UK broadcast hire facility Procam TV has invested £500,000 in Sony’s new 4K cameras, the CineAlta 4K Sony PMW-F5 (pictured) and PMW-F55. Procam claims the single transaction is the largest of its kind in the broadcast hire industry. The first instalment of 12 new cameras will be available from early February. With the PMW-F5 aimed at TV drama and mainstream TV production and the PMW-F55 targeted at high-end drama and commercial, Procam expects huge demand from its current customer base as well as interest from new client prospects. John Brennan, Procam’s managing director said: “4K is undoubtedly the hottest topic in the broadcast industry right now and by making this significant investment, we are leading the way in driving more professional 4K production.” Brennan continues: “With the arrival of 4K TVs on the market, we are delighted to be among the first production hire companies in the UK and Europe to take stock of Sony’s 4K cameras and play a central role in making 4K content a reality for all.” – Jake Youngwww.procam.tv
