MTV Turkey, operated by licensee Medyavizyon/MCD, has launched with Morpheus automation and playout technology powering its success from its new Istanbul operations centre.
The search for automation technology began over a year before MTV Turkey went on-air. With approximately 80% of its content coming from MTV Europe, it was vital not only that the system provided leading-edge automation functionality but that it also enabled the seamless sharing of programming and other resources with other MTV playout operations.
Following on from a series of consultative meetings involving Medyavizyon/MCD, Pro-Bel and Pro-Bel’s Turkish distributor EREL, visits were made to existing customer sites where Morpheus had been successfully deployed. Other requirements included operational ease of use; integration with a wide variety of third-party systems; scalability, since MTV Turkey plans to expand its operation considerably in the future; and robustness and reliability.
The operations centre is running three Morpheus automation playout channels integrated with two Publitronic Indigo 3 channel branding devices. Also key to the installation is Pro-Bel’s relationship with partner company SGL and the tight integration between Morpheus and data archive and management software FlashNet6.
“We work very hard to ensure optimum integration with third party vendors and form close partnerships where required in order to minimise onsite work and speed installation. This is vital in the modern broadcasting world,” explained Adrian Scott, chief marketing officer, Pro-Bel.
In this case the main integration work was carried out by AVITEK, with assistance from EREL and from all the suppliers involved. Pro-Bel was responsible for the installation and integration of Morpheus.
“MTV Turkey operates a completely file-based environment and is a clear illustration of the need for close cooperation between all the parties involved in order to attain the level of success achieved,” concluded Scott.
