Post houses invest in Sony OLED monitors

Sony has announced deals for its Trimaster EL OLED monitors with leading London post houses LipSync Post and Unit Post Production through Sony specialist dealer WTS.

Sony has announced deals for its Trimaster EL OLED monitors with leading London post houses LipSync Post and Unit Post Production through Sony specialist dealer WTS Broadcast. The latest professional monitor data from independent research consultants Futuresource for Q4 2011 saw the technology share for OLED double from 8% to 16.9% in Q4 2011 (October – December). Over the same period, the UK saw a jump from 7% to 14.1%. LipSync Post will be using five PVM-2541 (pictured) throughout its HD DS suites and grading theatres for monitoring. “We’ve opted for the Trimaster EL PVM-2541’s for their performance and affordability, said Peter Hampden, MD LipSync Post. ”They are a great all-round broadcast monitor and perfectly suit our needs at LipSync.” Unit Post Production has employed six PVM-2541’s and one BVM-F250 to standardise monitors across their finishing suites. “Unit’s emergence as one of the top post production companies in London has been in part due to the use of the very best in technology,” said Adam Luckwell, MD, Unit Post Production. “After extensive research we found that OLEDs were the preeminent monitor and therefore decided to replace all our finishing monitoring on Baselight, Flame and Smokes – across the entire facility with OLED’s.” Paul Beale, WTS’ business development manager UK & Ireland, said that OLED has replaced grade one CRT monitors. “We’re finding PVM’s are being widely adopted by post production houses for picture monitoring. They’re a great upgrade from a CRT at an accessible price point. Very good colour reproduction and low response times make them a great choice for fast moving footage, motion graphics and VFX because of the complete elimination of motion blur. The more specialist BVM-F250 is a fantastic choice for colour grading & finishing because of its exceptional colour reproduction and true blacks.” www.sony.co.uk
