Palestinian election sees hybrid tech first

IP-based platforms from Scopus Video Networks provided live event coverage of the recent Palestinian Authority elections, locally and internationally.

IP-based platforms from Scopus Video Networks provided live event coverage of the recent Palestinian Authority elections, locally and internationally.

For this occasion, SatLink Communications and Palmedia, the exclusive providers of video transmission over hybrid fibre and satellite connectivity from the Palestinian authority to worldwide media operators, deployed Scopus Video-over-IP platforms to transmit live content over IP local infrastructure and internationally via satellite networks.

This is one of the first implementations for this hybrid merger of IP-based contribution infrastructure for live event coverage and satellite technology for distribution. Emergence of this hybrid system enables satellite operators to simultaneously reduce operating costs and transmit broadcast quality picture in the contribution over IP world.

SatLink’s CEO David Hochner remarked, “It was important for us to deploy Scopus platforms quickly within a tight schedule without losing the high-end performance to which SatLink is committed. We were greatly impressed by the high quality video broadcasting offered by the Forward Error Correction (FEC)-enabled E-1000 IP encoders.”
