P2 goes global

Panasonic and GlobeCast signed an agreement at IBC to launch a new service that will make it easier for Panasonic P2 users to get their content back to base from anywhere in the world.

Panasonic and GlobeCast signed an agreement at IBC to launch a new service that will make it easier for Panasonic P2 users to get their content back to base from anywhere in the world.

“Our partnership with GlobeCast will be able to expand the meaning of workflow from acquisition to editing, because it will allow people to have a global bridge between their station and wherever they are,” said Jaume Rey, director, Provideo & Broadcast IT Systems, Panasonic Europe.

“It gives broadcasters a consistent workflow for the content itself to the delivery,” expanded Christian Pinon, chairman and CEO, GlobeCast Group.

The service, which will go into operation early in 2010, will use GlobeCast’s media sharing platform and Netia media asset management. “Content arrives, is stored, indexed and can be delivered in another format for any kind of platform.”

“P2 users will be able to keep the file structure the whole way through the process,” added Rey.
