The Sultanate of Oman Television, the national broadcaster of Oman, has selected the Leitch NEXIOT platform as its first server-based news production and playout system; the new system includes three NewsFlashR nonlinear editors and 10 NewsFlash PreditorT low-resolution browse/editors.
The Sultanate of Oman Television, which transmits its broadcasts through a network of stations spread across the country, chose the server system for news production and transmission applications at its new facility in Muscat. The system also includes an Autocue QSeriesT client server application system, which handles newsroom and transmission automation. The sale was made by Mustafa Sultan SECOM, Harris’ distributor of Leitch products in Oman.
Mohammad Salim Marhouby, director general of engineering of the Ministry of Information, Sultanate of Oman said, “Key to our choice was knowing that the products would be future-proofed for our requirements. This is particularly important to us as we plan to expand our facility, launch a second channel and move toward high-definition transmission in the months ahead.”
The NEXIO design allows users to build systems – up to 28.8 terabytes in a single domain — in small increments. The system’s low-resolution browse and edit solution, NewsFlash PreditorT, features a common user interface between high- and low-resolution editing environments
