NTP intros routing solutions

Two additions to the NTP Technology range of digital audio routing and processing equipment will be introduced to the UK market at BVE 2011.

Two additions to the NTP Technology range of digital audio routing and processing equipment will be introduced to the UK market at BVE 2011.

A 2048 x 2048 crosspoint router in a single 19-inch 5 RU frame, the NTP 625 MADI router incorporates a dual controller and dual power supply unit. Up to 18 MADI cards with four MADI input and output interfaces can be accommodated. Each frame has a TDM bus capacity of 2048 channels at 48kHz sampling rate. Two frames can be interconnected via NTP Xbus for a total of 3072 channels. A typical 2048 x 2028 MADI routing configuration requires eight MADI interface cards. The frame can alternatively be configured with analogue and digital AES3 cards. The router is controlled and supervised via TCP/IP and UDP using NTP’s Router Control System (RCS). The controller is an integral part of the router hardware and can be accessed via NTP Visual Matrix Control client software.

The 625 MADI interface card consists of a 625-531 QUAD TDM card and 625-556 QUAD MADI box. The 625-531 Quad TDM interfaces the internal TDM bus of the frame, The 625-556 QUAD MADI box provides the external MADI and Xbus I/O connections. The 625-556 QUAD MADI box can interface up to four bi-directional MADI connections available on optical fibre or CAT6 electrical cables. Various SFP modules are available for optical fibre connection for single-mode and multi-mode fibre with 1300 nm or 850 nm wavelength, at various signal levels. 256 input and output channels are available when interfacing four MADI connections. Two cards can be linked together via the Xbus interface using standard CAT6 cable to handle 512 channels.

The latest version of the proven AX24, the NTP DAD AX24 192 PHD is an eight-channel ultra-high-quality AD/DA audio converter. Designed for high quality music recording as well as mastering and monitoring in DSD, the NTP DAD AX24 192 PHD offers A/D and D/A conversion in PCM at up to 384kHz sampling rate, DSD at 64 frame/s or 128 frame/s and 352.8kHz DXD. Key new feature is an interface connecting directly to Avid Pro Tools digital audio workstations. Supporting sampling rates of 44.1 up to 19 kHz, the NTP DAD AX24 192 PHD is billed as ideal for use where the highest possible recording quality is needed. The optional microphone preamplifier incorporates analogue gain in 3dB steps as well as digital gain with 0.25dB precision. Dynamic range is between 118 and 121dB and the preamp equivalent noise floor is -130dB. This makes the DAD AX24 192 PHD the world’s most transparent microphone preamplifier with integral analogue to digital conversion.

Available with eight analogue inputs or eight analogue outputs channels, or both, the DAD AX24 192 PHD is operated via the DADman control application which runs on Apple Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. The DADman application is capable of handling 128 channels and can be automated from Avid Pro Tools, emulating the Avid Pro Tools PRE, or via EuCon for operation from the Euphonix MC-Pro and 5-MC hardware controllers. The AX24 192 PHD is fully remote controllable via RS-422, USB or Ethernet. Preamp parameters can be represented on the channel strip of industry-standard audio production consoles and workstations.
