Jack Wetherill, senior market analyst for Futuresource Consulting, has been unveiled as the latest speaker to join TVBEurope’s Beyond HD Masters 2013 conference programme.
Wetherill will present the session titled ‘Market Analysis: Format fatigue and the consumer proposition’. Ultra-HD needs a market but predictions for the installed base of 4K-ready displays in the home look a little light even by 2016. What's more, many broadcasters are still transitioning to HD – some from analogue to digital. HD has barely gone mainstream in the homes of major markets, so why would consumers warm to yet another – expensive -- TV set purchase?
The consulting firm will unveil up-to-the minute research into the 4K consumer market including the trajectory of hardware development, screen sales predictions and the growth of 4K content from Digital Cinema to YouTube. What role might new powerbrokers like Amazon, Google, Apple or Netflix take in leading traditional media in the pursuit of 4K to the home?
With over 12 years of research and consulting experience, Wetherill leads Futuresource Consulting’s Home Consumer Electronics team.
He joined Futuresource in 1999 after several years working in Library and Information Management. During his time at Futuresource, he has been closely involved in the tracking and forecasting of the global market for Home AV products.
He currently drives Futuresource Consulting’s continuous reporting into TV, Home Audio and Home Video Hardware, with a particular focus on the impact of the transition to digital delivery and online content.
