New post house is genetically modified

The Digital Imagineers Company, Australia’s newest dedicated HDTV/multimedia full service production post and deliverables company, is to become the first facility in Australia to install Quantel’s latest Genetic Engineering technology. The system will be operational by the end of July.

Digital Imagineers was founded just 13 months ago with a Quantel eQ system at its heart. “Digital Imagineers was set up to bring top quality post to Western Australia,” explained David Aspinall, Digital Imagineer chairman. “We’ve obviously struck a chord with the market – the eQ has been running at full capacity since day one. With the new Genetic Engineering set-up, we will effectively more than double our capacity because of the much improved workflow it gives us.”

“We needed extra storage for longform projects where the interchange of HD material was required between platforms,” explains Digital Imagineer MD, Ray Black. “The Genetic Engineering system adds a second eQ and also shares all the storage between the two systems on the GenePool so we can move work around instantaneously as we require. Coupled with our XDCAM HD cameras, we can offer clients both short- and longform production capability in HD with maximum flexibility.”

“It’s great to see an innovative start-up company based around a truly digital pipeline making such a success and impact in the very competitive Australian post market,” says Quantel Australia MD, Julien James. “David and his team are real creative pathfinders and they thoroughly deserve their success. The new Genetic Engineering set-up will give them an even greater edge. I suspect that the rest of the market will be watching them anxiously!”
