Netflix partners with Guillermo del Toro to ‘propel stop-motion animation into the future’

The studio will be a "living laboratory of experimentation and research", offering students the opportunity to collaborate, innovate and push the boundaries of stop-motion

Netflix has announced a partnership with Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro and French animation school GOBELINS Paris.

The aim is to open a stop-motion studio that will “shape the storytellers of tomorrow and propel the art form into the future”.

According to the partners, the studio will be a “living laboratory of experimentation and research”, offering students the opportunity to collaborate, innovate and push the boundaries of stop-motion.

“For the next generation of animation artists, this initiative offers an invitation to learn, create and dream bigger than ever before,” said Netflix.

“This stop-motion studio stands as a beacon of commitment to opening doors and creating clear pathways for emerging talent,” the streamer added.
