Miranda puts channel on air in three days

Using its ITX modular automation system, Miranda has successfully added a new channel for a leading broadcaster’s output in just three days. Satellite Telecommunications Network (STN) in Slovenia already had nine channels on air using Miranda ITX, and saw a market opportunity to extend its offering. On 20 February STN placed the order with Miranda, and on 23 February it was up and running. “When we first selected ITX a year ago we appreciated not only the convenience of a compact, file-based solution, but also that it was a highly scalable platform that would allow us to be extremely agile as a business,” said Mitja Lovsin, managing director of STN. “At that time we predicted we would be able to add services in just a few days, and that is just what we have done with this latest channel addition. The Miranda team proved to be great partners in this project, and we continue to be delighted with the choice we made in ITX.” At its state of the art playout facility in Dob pri Domzaleh in Slovenia, STN uses a compact ITX installation. The playout engines are linked to Miranda Vertigo XG graphics processors for automated, multi-level graphics, driven not only from internal metadata but from interactive external feeds including RSS and SMS. The installation also allows for simultaneous playout and recording of channels for time-shifted transmissions. www.miranda.com
