Matrox Video has announced that it will present its Matrox Convert DVI Plus at the new low price of $995 (€799, £649). The DVI Plus HD-SDI scan converter features genlock and region-of-interest (ROI) support, and incorporates computer signals into video productions.

“Convert DVI Plus has been field proven in demanding broadcast and live production environments around the world over the last two years,” said Daniel Maloney, technical marketing manager at Matrox. “Users appreciate its high-quality output and scaling that lets them seamlessly incorporate computer content into their video productions as well as the advanced features, ease of use, and reliability they have come to expect from Matrox products.”

Matrox Convert DVI Plus lets broadcasters incorporate content from their computers, iPads and iPhones into broadcast programmes. It can be used to create broadcast-quality video from computer applications such as Skype, YouTube, Google Earth, FaceTime, ProPresenter, PowerPoint and web browsers, as well as driving projectors and large displays at live events.

The ROI feature lets the user define any region of any size from the computer display and output just that content at the required broadcast resolution. If the selected area doesn’t match the output resolution, Matrox Convert DVI Plus provides horizontal and vertical upscaling and downscaling. The unit can be genlocked to an SD analogue black burst (bi-level) or HD tri-level genlock source.
