Master finds Sanctuary in London

London post production facility The Sanctuary has purchased a Nucoda Film Master, a finishing system for feature films, commercials, long form television, and restoration applications. Its purchase will allow The Sanctuary, which has experienced rapid growth since its establishment as an HD-only facility in 2002, to offer clients the use of a dedicated grading suite for future projects.

“We currently have three Avid DS Nitris systems that are very capable grading systems and provide their own advantages during online sessions, but we have had increasing requests for a dedicated system for grading that would provide more flexibility,” said Daniel Stracey, joint MD at The Sanctuary.

“Software based systems such as Film Master base their speed purely upon available processing power, and this means that as processors get faster, so does the system,” he said. “We have taken delivery of one of the first, if not the first x17 system in London. This is a 17 processor workstation and provides us with unprecedented speed of operation.

“One other important reason for choosing Nucoda was the addition of its DVO (Digital Vision Optics) tools in Film Master. These include DVO Grain, DVO Dust and DVO Aperture, which allow for advanced image processing and restoration using motion compensated algorithms for grain reduction and clean-up as well as image sharpening tools.”
