Making the connection for 4K

Both Canare and Coax Connectors will be introducing new connectors at IBC designed for 4K and Ultra HD use.

Both Canare and Coax Connectors will be introducing new connectors at IBC designed for 4K and Ultra HD use.

Canare is launching what it claims is the first four-channel coaxial connector for linking 4K-related equipment. The new connector will enable the transmission of four 3G-SDI 4K signals with a single connector and one cable.

The connector plug is composed of four 75-ohm connector units, which can be plugged in simultaneously with an easy push, pull and lock system.

The connectors are compact, solid and lightweight, and are suitable for outdoor use. The receptacle connector units are compatible with IEC’s DIN 1.0/2.3 connector plugs. At 3GHz, the return loss is 20dB or greater.

The connector should be available shortly after IBC in three models: one connector plug, one connector jack, and one receptacle.

Korus dawns

The new Korus range of BNCs from RF connector specialists Coax is designed for 6G connections for 4K or UHD, but is also claimed to give improved performance from existing 3G systems.

Thanks to excellent low loss performance, the Korus range should also permit high data signal transmission without distortion.

Each connector in the range will offer true 75-ohm performance for both 3G and 6G, and the range will cover popular industry standard cables as well as PCB mount versions.
