Magenta TV in Germany expands with second Nucoda Film Master

Image Systems has announced that German post production facility Magenta TV has expanded its Nucoda DI suite with the installation of a second Nucoda Film Master.

Image Systems has announced that German post production facility Magenta TV has expanded its Nucoda DI suite with the installation of a second Nucoda Film Master. Magenta TV required a high-end colour grading system that could work with multiple file and camera formats and could be fully integrated into its Avid workflow. The Nucoda system was the best fit for the facility’s requirements as it continues to increase its intake of HD television projects. Simon Schneider, colourist, Magenta TV said, “Most of our clients come to us with their final edited material on QuickTime ProRes or Avid DNxHD MXF files. When we’ve received this we import into the Nucoda system and perform the grade. We then send a cut-down of the graded material to tape in order to generate a master copy, create a graded MXF file for further work in our Avid system and, if requested, transcode to ProRes files.” The workflow within the facility depends on the project being graded. Schneider added, “For other productions the most efficient workflow is to grade at the same time as the text and title edits are made on the Avid system. After completing the grade uncorrected material is replaced with the render out from the Nucoda Film Master. This means that we can start rendering and playout instantly.” The Nucoda Film Master systems installed at Magenta TV make a big difference to the facility providing sophisticated colour correction integrated within a NLE workflow. The system’s DVO image enhancement and restoration tools were also a contributing factor in the facility’s decision to purchase a second system, providing a sophisticated suite of enhancement tools ensuring the highest quality imagery. www.imagesystems.tv
