With an introduction by Paula Bargery, AmberFin VP Sales, EMEA, ITV’s Luan Thompson, lead strategist for content management, will speak at this year’s IT Broadcast Workflow conference to discuss ‘Automated QC for file-based workflows’.

ITV’s Luan Thompson, lead strategist for content management, will speak at this year’s IT Broadcast Workflow conference to discuss ‘Automated QC for file-based workflows’. With an introduction by Paula Bargery, AmberFin VP Sales, EMEA, Thompson will talk about ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which now have file-based delivery workflow from production through to transmission and VOD distribution. AmberFin’s iCR provides a key part of this workflow, enabling the content management team to check the programmes delivered
from production and convert them into the formats necessary for distribution. File-based QC is used to ensure that the programme meets the technical standards for transmission. More manufacturers are developing file-based QC tools but new challenges arise. Testing standards and reporting levels vary and with multiple QC steps in the workflow, significant latency and cost is added to the end-to-end process. The Digital Production Partnership, along with UK broadcasters and the EBU, is working on defining a common set of tests as well as a common set of QC terms. More work is required though to streamline QC in the workflows with perhaps the use of standardised QC certificates. TVBEurope’s IT Broadcast Workflow conference is Europe’s premier event charting the development and adaptation of file-based operations in European broadcasting organisations.
