Monitoring and logging company Mediaproxy has announced that all LogServer and LogServer ASI products will ship with realtime loudness monitoring capabilities. Loudness monitoring regulations within the EU and now the US enforce volume limits on commercials, ensuring their maximum loudness does not exceed the average maximum loudness of the programme they are accompanying. Fully compliant BS.1770, ATSC A/85 and EBU P/LOUD R 128 loudness monitoring is available with all LogServers, allowing broadcasters to log, monitor and export a media reference to address loudness complaints quickly and easily. “Our goal with loudness monitoring technology was twofold,” said Erik Otto, CEO at Mediaproxy. “Firstly, it had to enable broadcast service providers to address and maintain loudness regulations around the world. With Congress in the US recently passing the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act and other countries following very quickly, it was a logical step for Mediaproxy to fully support loudness monitoring. Secondly, access to loudness data needed to be seamless to enable users to easily export or burn-in data into sub clips as proof of compliance to address complaints efficiently. We have addressed both at the highest possible level and at no additional cost to customers when purchasing LogServer systems.” Mediaproxy’s user interface allows for search, export and content retrieval across multiple distributed servers. In addition to traditional baseband sources, the LogServer engine also supports multi-programme transport stream sources via ASI or IP, providing options to log both proxy and native MPEG formats in parallel.
