UK digital media company Loft London is boosting its productivity by installing the RadiantGrid software platform from Wohler Technologies. This provides faster than realtime transcoding, rewrapping and frame rate conversions within the file-based workflow. It is the first RadiantGrid installation in Europe. “The challenges we faced in the past with existing technologies meant that our clients’ content was taking up to seven times longer than real time to process frame rate conversions,” explained David Barrett, commercial director of Loft London. “This limitation heavily impacted their ability to turn content around. “RadiantGrid is a fantastic alternative. The suite of products accelerates our workflows dramatically. We are also product to be working closely with Wohler, where we are very much part of the test and development lifecycle.” The RadiantGrid software platform incorporates intelligence to automate the workflow for file-based ingest, preparation and distribution of digital media. The advanced parallel processing technology supports video, audio, data and quality control elements to streamline workflows, including the ability to ingest content once, then convert and process it as needed for multi-platform delivery. Loft London, based in Chiswick near a number of major broadcast and media companies, is a global media hub based around excellent connectivity including two gigabit fibres. It offers in house editing as well as secure storage and off-site disaster recovery, as well as the high performance file preparation and conversion platform.
