EditShare has announced Lightworks for Mac is available for public beta testing. This is the first time Lightworks is available on Mac OSX.

Lightworks for Mac will be version twelve of the enduring editing platform, originally created in the 1990’s by developers who included Paul Bamborough, developer of the Codex digital storage platform.

New features for Lightworks Mac Public Beta include a new content manager in which bins and groups are now all visible. The search function has been incorporated into the content manager too. The content manager contains clips, sub clips, prints, syncs, edits, searches as well as everything and recent filters. There is also the function to create and edit filters based on search criteria. Users can also drag and drop files from the OS directly into an open bin.

The new version 12 supports ProRes MOV export and has an improved Lightworks Play engine which removes the need for the Display Optimisation Field/Frame button.

Lightworks for Mac also features improved responsiveness for image display when moving the timeline marker.

The public beta is available to download now from the Lightworks website. The site also includes free tutorial videos.
