India’s DEN selects NDS

Digital Entertainment Networks (DEN), the latest entrant in the Indian digital cable market, has selected a suite of NDS products to launch the company's digital cable service.

Digital Entertainment Networks (DEN), the latest entrant in the Indian digital cable market, has selected a suite of NDS products to launch the company’s digital cable service.

NDS will provide DEN with VideoGuard conditional access system (CAS), MediaHighway middleware and an advanced electronic programme guide (EPG). NDS VideoGuard conditional access and DRM is used by 82.7 million active subscribers, and NDS middleware has been cumulatively deployed in 76.4 million devices, enabling operators around the world to provide enhanced services to viewers.

DEN is a leading cable network operator with a pan-Indian footprint and a vision to drive digitisation in the cable distribution system. DEN is currently busy upgrading the last mile to deliver an enhanced digital entertainment experience to consumers. Advanced NDS solutions provide DEN the flexibility to introduce future enhancements including interactive applications and additional advanced services for viewers.

NDS’s R&D facility in Bangalore, which has been operational for eight years and now employs close to 800 people, will be leading the development of the state-of-the-art solution for DEN. This development centre is instrumental in designing unique solutions tailored to the Indian audience.
