Hedgehog and Dimension select Grass Valley for OB vans

Lebanese production company Hedgehog and South Africa’s Dimension Television Facilities (DTF) have selected Grass Valley to equip their OB vans.

Lebanese production company Hedgehog and South Africa’s Dimension Television Facilities (DTF) have selected Grass Valley to equip their OB vans. Hedgehog has selected an end-to-end workflow consisting of cameras, production switchers, routing switchers, router control systems and replay systems for Lebanon’s first HD OB van. DTF provides mobile broadcast services to local and international markets in Africa, and has selected a range of Grass Valley live production solutions to equip its new OB van, which is expected to be complete in October.

“What drew us to Grass Valley is its ability to provide solutions from one end of the production chain to the other,” said Mr. George Moufarrej, CEO and managing director of Hedgehog. “This project marks the construction of our very first OB van so it was really important for us to have total confidence in the solutions that will help deliver our new mobile productions. Grass Valley’s expertise in live production is second-to-none, and its solutions offer efficiency, flexibility, and top quality performance.”

Hedgehog will work closely with Grass Valley’s partner in Lebanon, Pharaon Broadcast, and the company aims to provide better quality HD coverage of live events.

Grass Valley is supplying DTF with a Trinix NXT digital video routing switcher with multiviewer, an Apex Plus digital audio routing switcher, two Kayak HD video production switchers, and four HD LDK 8000 Elite Series cameras.

Hennie Reynders, director of DTF, commented: “In a mobile production truck, space is of paramount importance. Grass Valley offers one-stop solutions that are compact and highly efficient. We have relied upon Grass Valley’s experience and expertise in the broadcast market for more than a decade and we are fully confident that our new OB van will deliver the high-quality content that our viewers expect.”
