HBS commentates with Glensound

Glensound is making itself heard over the vuvuzelas by supplying 675 commentary positions at the World Cup: 650 analogue positions around the stadia and at the IBC, alongside 25 Digital Commentary GDC6432s providing HBS’ own host commentary.

The analogue positions are comprised of Glensound GS-OC33 desktop base stations and GS-OC34 Commentators’ Units, while for HBS the extra 24-bit 48 kHz audio quality and flexibility of the digital systems makes the GDC6432 the ideal choice for supplying world broadcaster’s with a host commentary.

Unsurpringly this is Glensound’s largest ever provision of commentary systems and Glensound Managing Director, Gavin Davis, is humbled. “It is quite remarkable for Glensound to be responsible for all of the commentary audio at the football World Cup,” he commented. “This year’s World Cup project, with our good friends at Host Broadcast systems of Switzerland, is the largest project our equipment has ever been used in. We will watch the matches with particular pride, knowing our little company from Maidstone, England is responsible for the little box sitting in front of all the world’s commentators.”

It is a hat trick for Glensound as its kit has been used as the standard commentary system for the third World Cup in a row now, its association with Host Broadcast Systems starting back at the 2002 event.
