Fox News channel recently used the Quicklink Skype TX solution for news poll interviews on the American election programme Fox with Friends, with former chief of staff John Sununu. Fox News used the Quicklink Skype TX to transmit high quality two-way video and audio from a remote office location back to a Quicklink Skype TX in the TV station.

The Quicklink Skype TX is a touchscreen 1U rack mount or desktop unit that enables reception or transmission of Skype calls through the SDI/ HDMI interface. The solution is ultra-quiet, Quicklink claims, ensuring that news broadcasts can be transmitted without any noise interference.

Another new feature for the Quicklink Skype TX solution is a network enhancer called Bondio. This software is available free of charge for a limited period with the purchase of the Quicklink Skype TX. Bondio is designed to improve the contributor’s bandwidth by bonding a combination of internet connections together to create one ‘super connection’. This allows broadcasters to use the solution even when they have lossy networks in order to produce a single stable, high quality transmission.

Quicklink provides broadcast solutions in the fields of news, sport, entertainment and corporate media. The company provides over 400 TV stations with software and hardware IP solutions for the transmission of live and edited video.
