For-A will have several new products for live production on show at the BVE North 2012 exhibition in Manchester (13-14 November – Stand D14), including new vision mixers, multiviewers, file-based solutions, signal processors and character generation. The HVS-390HS is the latest of For-A’s range of compact, cost-effective vision mixers. Available in 1M/E and 2M/E versions, it includes 16 HD/SD-SDI inputs and eight outputs (expandable to 24 inputs and 13 outputs), with frame synchronizers for all inputs. Built-in resizing engines on four inputs allow mixing HD, SD, and PC sources. Two chroma keyers and four keyers per M/E channel are standard. All keyers have a 2.5D DVE and there are two 3D DVEs (for background and keyer) for each M/E. The mixer includes stores for up to 480 video frames and up to 100 events. The FA-9500 is its new 3G/HD/SD multi-purpose one-stop signal processor, and is packed with features, including up/down/cross/aspect converters, a second converter, colour correction and automatic video optimiser as standard. Two channels of HD/SD-SDI and one channel of analogue composite video I/O are standard, expandable to five channels. The SDI outputs can be synchronised. It comes in a 1RU unit with front-panel graphic displays. The VTW-330HS is a compact, lightweight portable HD/SD character generator that is well suited for on-site or outside broadcast applications. It includes drawing tools, over 260 transition types, template control, a general-purpose file interface and more in a 1RU unit. The MBP-100MP is a multi-format file player offering HD/SD-SDI baseband output for the major formats used in video production, including P2HD (DVCPRO HD and AVC-Intra), XDCAM (EX, HD, and HD422), Ikegami GF, Apple QuickTime (DVCPRO codec), HDV, and AVCHD. For facilities using file-based workflows the MBP-100MP can store all multiple file formats in one central location and replay them as baseband signals. It also supports audio files conforming to the various video formats – and can output up to eight-channel embedded audio. It includes a 128GB solid-state store and is housed in a 1RU vibration-resistant case for portable applications. Its new MV-42HS HD/SD multi-viewer is a compact, low-cost unit with a straightforward user interface that supports up to four asynchronous or mixed HD/SD-SDI inputs, including 1080i, 1080p, and 720p, at a selection of frame rates. Its on-screen features allow customised display layouts. – David Fox www.for-a.com
