EVS serves Gulf Cup of Nations

Soccer tournament the Gulf Cup of Nations was produced by Qatar-based Al Dawri wal Kass (Al-Kass) with an EVS-enabled workflow. Al-Kass provided a fleet of OB vans for the live production and produced highlights packages from the main media centre at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. EVS provided an integrated workflow from ingest to playout based on its XT3 servers. Three eight-channel XT3 servers were used to ingest and playout feeds from the Bahrain National Stadium in East Riffa and the Khalifa International Stadium. Al-Kass used the IPDirector suite of video production management applications for ingest scheduling, live logging, on-the-fly production of highlights packages, and for creating and managing playlists. Low-resolution feeds were streamed to an EVS XStoreNAS, where content was instantly available to operators to create the highlight packages. “We needed an integrated and collaborative workflow that would help us turnaround content faster and more efficiently,” said Samer Younes, consultant engineer for Al Kass. “We relied on EVS’ expertise in live sport production to give us the tools to make this happen reliably.” The EVS system was integrated with an Avid ISIS, enabling clips from the XT3 to be transferred to ISIS for advanced editing in high resolution. Once completed the edits were then transferred back to the XT3 servers for playout. The biennial Gulf Cup was won by the UAE. – Adrian Penningtonwww.evs.tv
