Eurotek chooses SGL for RTÉ project

Software Generation (SGL) has announced that systems integrator Eurotek has selected SGL Flashnet for a major digital upgrade project for RTÉ, Ireland’s national broadcaster.

Software Generation (SGL) has announced that systems integrator Eurotek has selected SGL Flashnet for a major digital upgrade project for RTÉ, Ireland’s national broadcaster. The File Acquisition and Server Technology (FAST) project will allow RTÉ to support file-based workflows, allowing its assets to be easily available to a significantly increased number of users throughout the production process.

The workflow sees an integration between three systems at the broadcaster’s Dublin headquarters: SGL’s store management solution Flashnet, TMD’s Mediaflex asset management system, which provides the content management, preparation and workflow platform for FAST, and a Spectralogic T950 library. This integration provides RTÉ with a seamless workflow and allows users to browse assets and request material to be restored from the archive with a few mouse clicks.

Kevin Moore, MD, Eurotek explained, “We’ve worked with SGL on a number of successful projects in the past and selected FlashNet for FAST because of its strong background and seamless integration with third-party applications.”

SGL’s Worldwide Sales and Joint managing director Bernie Walsh (pictured), added, “We’re delighted to have been selected by RTÉ and Eurotek to provide the archive for the FAST project. SGL’s open system architecture provides RTÉ with a reliable and secure content management system that allows users to repurpose and re-use content simply, significantly increasing productivity and ROI.”

The FAST system is due to go on-air in summer 2013.
