Euro Media picks Microfilms 3D

The Euro Media Group has moved its entire 3D shooting package to Microfilms Total Control II, using the system on such events as the Roland Garros French Open tennis (pictured) and the Olympics. Its systems are running all the latest Total Control II functions and evolutions, including the new Microfilms RCP 3D to allow remote rig alignment via IP. The system can also drive base, convergence, zoom, focus and iris from the OB van. All telecentricity corrections applied by the rigs are verified in real time by an image analyser and corrected automatically when needed. The Total Control II system should be ready to shoot in 20 minutes and the company claims that “a single technician can easily manage three rigs”. For the French Open, the temperature shift, swirling winds and red clay dust on the Philippe-Chatrier tennis court was a hostile environment for the rig’s precision mechanical parts. However, the new 3D Live functions produced a constant and perfect alignment even in the worst conditions. Microfilms’ rigs are now compatible with Microfilms’ c-box, Stereolabs’ Pure and Sony’s MPE-200 stereography systems. At IBC, Microfilms will show a new side-by-side 3D rig as well as the new 3D remote control panel. www.euromediagroup.comwww.microfilms.frwww.rig3d.com By David Fox
