Viviane Reding, EU commissioner for information society and media (a portfolio which includes new information technologies such as broadcasting, mobile and internet technologies) will present the Keynote Address at DVB World 2008 in Budapest (12-14 March), writes Fergal Ringrose.
Commissioner Reding has a long and distinguished career in European politics and has been instrumental in influencing EU attitudes to the regulation and standardisation of digital communications generally including the audio/visual sector. The Commissioner’s presentation within the conference theme of ‘Convergence or Divergence’ will be of great interest to all involved in the development of the digital infrastructure in Europe.
The DVB World Conference, now in its eighth year, is firmly established as Europe’s premier annual gathering of experts in digital television. The range of topics this year includes internet television, mobile (terrestrial/satellite) television, content protection and digital terrestrial television.
