Enhance Technology now offers 3TB SATA drives for its EnhanceRaid storage systems, a move it claims is an industry first in workgroup storage. Using drives from Hitachi and Seagate, Enhance has proved the technology in its range of desktop enclosures, yielding over 900Mb/s sustained transfer rate in some models. The speed, and reliability, is enhanced by its cable-less backplane.The E800MS eight drive enclosure, which now has a capacity of 24TB, has a footprint of 135mm x 235mm and is 280mm high. The controller software supports Raid 0, 1, 3, 5, 6 and 10, or it can allow the full capacity to be accessed (so-called JBOD or “just a bunch of disks” configuration). It supports Windows, OS X and Linux.
