Elemental showcased new video ingest, processing and delivery capabilities with its v2.9 update at NAB 2016 in Las Vegas.

The company has made further technological investments with the aim of giving video providers the ability to enhance their offerings to give consumers more immersive and personalised experiences.

Keith Wymbs (pictured), CMO of Elemental, said, “Our purpose is to perfect the media experience, and accelerating investment in Elemental software-defined video solutions moves our customers another step closer to achieving this goal, enriching the viewing experience for consumers worldwide.”

“With a complete software solution, Elemental customers can streamline video operations so they can focus on innovating and extending service offerings, growing audiences and monetizing content whether they choose to do so on-premises or in the cloud.”

Elemental displayed HDR, VR and 8K video encoding capabilities at their stand in Vegas, whilst also announcing its implementation in Globo’s OTT services.

The Brazilian broadcaster is using Elemental video processing as the core VoD and live processing engine for the Globo Play OTT service.

“As Brazil’s leading broadcaster, video quality is critical to everything we do,” explained Marcelo Souza, director of digital media technology for TV Globo.

“For more than four years, Elemental software-based solutions have helped us meet exacting standards.

“Our new Globo Play service is a hit with viewers and is the type of success we want to repeat many times. To achieve this, we need a high-quality, scalable video infrastructure that adapts quickly. So we turned to Elemental.”
