Editing equipment hire firm Coach House Studios is departing its Shepherd’s Bush headquarters for a new purpose-designed facility at Twickenham Studios. As a result of the move, Coach House will also be able to offer its location acquisition and offline editing services to TV and film producers using Twickenham’s studio space.
The relocation will see the company take up residence in Twickenham’s Falcon Vaults, which is being re-configured to provide space for Coach House’s inventory of editing equipment, plus a workshop, an office and an online editing/grading suite. Coach House will also be bringing in a recently acquired Quantel Pablo iQ grading suite that, complete with Neo panel, will be networked via Genepool to a Quantel Max and allow users to work on projects up to 4K resolution.
Twickenham Studios will also become the base for Coach House’s new fleet of DIT vans. Designed for file-based TV drama and feature film shoots, the custom-built vehicles operate as mobile editing or grading suites, allowing for location-based disk or memory card recycling, transcoding, colour grading, quality control and assembly editing or rough cuts.
Coach House Studios founder and managing director John Walbeoffe said, “In recent times Shepherd’s Bush has become less popular, with producers preferring to work in-house or venture to Soho. So, when we started looking for a bigger facility that gave us more room, particularly for the DIT vans, Twickenham Studios offered the ideal combination of location and space. Also, because they service the same TV drama and feature film market that we do, we will be able to offer producers working in the studios the chance to shoot and post in the same location. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
Coach House Studios also intends to open Soho offline edit suites that will allow for speedy and convenient kit hire to production companies based in central London. The company’s credits include Marple and Poirot, and the upcming BBC dramas The Thirteenth Tale and The Musketeers.
