EBU to showcase POC IP TV studio at IBC

LiveIP Project has been created by the EBU through the Sandbox+ initiative

The LiveIP Project, a multi-vendor system integration to showcase IP-based live broadcast solutions, will be presented at IBC as a proof-of-concept demonstration on the EBU stand (10.F20).

The project, announced last week, has been created as part of Sandbox+, an “international joint platform for collaboration innovation” which has been formed by the EBU together with VRT and iMinds. The LiveIP Project sees a collaboration between EBU, VRT and a number of industry partners in implementing a live TV production studio at VRT’s Brussels premises that uses IT hardware and software to “enable broadcasters to produce programmes quickly, efficiently, and cost effectively”.

Hans Hoffmann, EBU’s head of media fundamentals and production technology, said, “We’re very proud that we’ve been able to implement a leading-edge studio workflow using only IP-based technology. This takes our industry to the next level of interoperability in a live production environment. This project was a huge undertaking and we wouldn’t have been able to complete the infrastructure without the technology and expertise of our partners.”

The demonstration will take place in the EBU Innovation Theatre at the EBU stand on Friday 11 September at 16.00 CET.
