Rohde & Schwarz DVS (DVS) will be presenting the latest enhancements in its VENICE product portfolio at NAB. As an entry-level solution, VENICE Element is tailored specifically to meet the needs of live studio operation and playout. In line with this, the GUI has also been further optimised. With support for AS-11, VENICE now offers an additional standardised delivery format so broadcasters can exchange content more easily and significantly accelerate production processes. Users can also manage assorted recording tasks in a simple and straightforward way thanks to the Record Scheduler. Versatility and ease of integration into existing workflows are at the heart of the Media Production Hub’s design: It is available in multiple versions with different chassis sizes, channel numbers and internal storage capacities. The new VENICE Element unites four channels in a 2U chassis for reliable studio and live playout, providing broadcasters with a scalable entry-level solution for automated channel playout. As part of this, the Media Production Hub’s GUI has also been optimised and the design made more ergonomic. Users will be impressed by its straightforward operating guidance, which supports them by giving immediate access to all key functions even in hectic live broadcast operations – with their clear displays almost completely ruling out operating errors. By preconfiguring various settings like file formats and resolutions, the extensive feature set can be adapted to suit the particular needs of the different user groups such as operators and administrators. In addition, VENICE now supports AS-11 thereby offering a new standardised delivery format for broadcast workflows. As a subset of the MXF file format, AS-11 permits straightforward handling of essence data and metadata resulting in considerably easier content exchange and workflows. DVS claims it was the world’s first company to incorporate the FIMS open communications standard, which has been approved by AMWA (Advanced Media Workflow Association) in the USA and the EBU (European Broadcast Union) in Europe, into a system. The Record Scheduler integrated intoVENICE uses the FIMS ‘Capture’ service. This allows easy creation of capture tasks in the Spycer content control software, thereby providing convenient control of all channels by the network client application. Furthermore, the FIMS ‘Transform’ service is now also supported, enabling third-party systems to utilise VENICE as a transcoder. SL6316
