Dune leads BAFTA Film Awards technical categories

Nominations announced for annual BAFTA Film Awards

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune leads the list of nominees in the technical categories at the 2022 British Academy Film Awards.

The film received six nominations, followed by No Time To Die with four, and West Side Story and Nightmare Alley with two each.

The technical categories include Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Make Up and Hair, Sound and Special Visual Effects.

Overall, Dune also leads tops the list of nominated films, followed by Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog with eight and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast with six.

Krishnendu Majumdar, chair of BAFTA, said: “This year’s nominations showcase a remarkable range of creative work in-front of and behind the camera. We know that by celebrating outstanding achievement today, we are inspiring future generations for years to come.

“Two years ago, we launched a wide-ranging review into our voting, membership and campaigning processes and I want to thank the BAFTA members and the wider industry for embracing these changes. Our goal is to level the playing field for awards entries so that more films and the true diverse range of exceptional creative talent in the UK and internationally is represented and celebrated.”

This winners of the EE British Academy Film Awards will be announced on Sunday 13th March at the Royal Albert Hall.
