Producer Dov Freedman and director Charlie Russell have launched independent production company Curious Films.

The company has announced its first commission from BBC Three - a documentary series about West Ham United Women’s Football Club with the working title Britain’s Youngest Football Boss.

Freedman has previously produced the likes of The Trouble with Dad for Channel 4 and An Hour to Save Your Life for the BBC.

His long-time collaborator Russell is the multi award-winning director behind Chris Packham: Asperger’s and Me and Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die.

"Charlie and I share a vision to make quality factual television with an unashamedly popular touch. We have a desire to innovate at every turn, and we’re thrilled with how our first major commission is shaping up," said Freedman.

“What makes Dov and I different is our approach to talent and our ability to support, harness and challenge big names for exclusive access, telling heart-warming and intimate stories for the widest possible audience," added Russell.
