Dimetis manages headends for BR

German federal broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk is implementing a new DVB-T multiplex centre and transmission headend at Ismaning. The signal processing and control system is supplied by Dimetis.

German federal broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk is implementing a new DVB-T multiplex centre and transmission headend at Ismaning. The signal processing and control system is supplied by Dimetis, including its headend management system Boss Broadcast Manager.

The new centre brings in all BR’s services and provides signal encoding and statistical multiplexing to create distributable transport streams. Inserted into these transport streams are service information and the single frequency network synchronisation data. Twelve channels are transmitted on three DVB-T multiplexes.
System planning, integration and implementation of the whole headend, as well as supply of the Boss Broadcast Manager, was by Dimetis. Also part of the contract was Boss Stream Viewer multi-viewers. The company claims to be a leader in standards-based operational support systems for the telecommunications and broadcast industries, particularly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
According to Dimetis CEO Joachim Kniesel, “The classical transfer of video content will be replaced by advanced information technologies. Dimetis software meets the highest standards, being innovatively designed, flexibly applicable and intuitive to use.”
