DekTec is using NAB to unveil what it believes are the first ever Transport Stream over IP (TSoIP) to Digital Video converters featuring Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, giving new and unprecedented flexibility to businesses looking to expand server i/o.

When used with PoE compatible switches, the TSoIP converters can draw their power from the network. The DekTec DTE-31xx family of TSoIP adapters can interface MPEG-2 transport streams with PC-based applications via the network. They can be used either as compact autonomous gateways, or as remote i/o devices for server-based data inserters, stream servers, multiplexers or other digital-video applications requiring high-speed i/o.

The first two products in the family are being launched at NAB, and convert DVB-ASI streams to and from TSoIP on Gigabit Ethernet networks. Also new is Xpect, a Transport Stream monitoring application offering DVB conformance testing according to TR 101 290 or against a user-defined template in realtime. Xpect captures the monitored Transport Stream to a file upon detection of a TR 101 290 or template error, and offers a pre-trigger buffer to give a recording of events that preceded the violation.
