The IT Broadcast Workflow conference, produced by TVBEurope, is now a key part of the industry calendar, offering a uniquely valuable opportunity to share knowledge and experience.

This year’s event will take place on Wednesday 13 June, and will move to the comfortable surroundings of Bafta in Piccadilly, London. Chaired by Jeremy Bancroft from Media Asset Capital, the event’s programme is building momentum, with confirmed speaker Steve Luck, senior team leader at ITN, to be introduced by Amit Patel, CEO of Symbox, a Gold Sponsor of the event. Joining the Gold Sponsor line-up is AmberFin and EVS, and silver sponsors are currently Blue Lucy, Pebble Beach and SGL.

In addition, Luan Thompson, lead strategist, content management and metadata for ITV, has been confirmed as a speaker at this year’s conference. ITBW looks at the convergence of IT and broadcast technology and system architectures that are transforming operations and economics for broadcasters and content producers. Anyone contemplating a major systems development today is likely to choose a file-based infrastructure. With the requirement to deliver to multiple platforms, CFOs looking for efficiency through large-scale automation are as keen for this transformation as chief engineers. Everyone involved needs the latest information if they are to chart the best path through the challenges of networking, interconnectivity standards and new concepts like the service oriented architecture. The IT Broadcast Workflow provides the opportunity to hear case studies from those broadcasters who have already taken the plunge, and can talk about what works – and what does not. No two organisations approach the move from traditional broadcast hardware to a file-based system in the same way. What are the benefits and pitfalls in ingest, archiving, content manipulation, collaborative post production, transcoding, storage, asset management, and playout and delivery? If IT infrastructures cannot be built to the same level of reliability and availability as traditional broadcast hardware, what do we put in place to ensure we continue to serve audiences? All this and more will be discussed at the 2012 IT Broadcast Workflow, 13 June at Bafta. Registration is open at www.broadcastworkflow.com, and early bird pricing is available before 1 May.
