Dalet debuts story-centric newsroom solution

Dalet Pyramid provides an integrated solution for news production, content management and multi-platform distribution, all accessible through a web-based user experience

Dalet has launched a next-generation solution for newsrooms which puts the story at the centre of the workflow.

Dalet Pyramid provides an integrated solution for news production, content management and multi-platform distribution, all accessible through a web-based user experience. The solution can be natively deployed in the Cloud, on-premises or in a hybrid configuration.

It is able to deal with tasks such as ingest, scripting, audio and video editing, as well as digital versioning and graphics. Advanced AI capabilities automate metadata tagging and provide real-time contextual recommendations, which Dalet says saves valuable time logging and searching content.

According to Dalet’s director of product marketing Bea Alonso, Dalet Pyramid has been developed to be story-centric rather than rundown-centric. “In newsrooms in the past decade or so, the rundown seemed to drive everything. We’ve seen with other outlets that are not linear TV, such as social media, it’s the story that’s important,” she tells TVBEurope.

“It’s designed with every newsroom in mind,” she adds. “What that means is that it’s not just a solution for linear TV news, but also for news outlets that are digital-first, social media driven, or that have other formats for news packages such as no audio, they might be subtitle driven.”

Alonso explains that Dalet believes the lines between a company’s traditional news team and its social media and digital team are beginning to blur. “What we’re aiming to do with Dalet Pyramid is to think about the story and all of the different platforms that it’s going to right from the start. So teams aren’t producing one package for TV, one for Facebook, another for a VoD platform. That’s just a waste of time and effort.”

The solution is accessible via both desktop and mobile, enabling users to log in from wherever they are which is particularly key at the moment as so many are working from home. It is based on AWS Cloud infrastructure. The browser-based UI is independent of OS, so it works with Microsoft Windows and Apple’s iOS.
