Colorfront’s Transkoder mastering system recognised for HDR Vivid capabilities

The certification recognises Transkoder's support for PQ-encoded HEVC rendering with embedded HDR Vivid metadata

Colorfront’s Transkoder mastering system has become one of the first software solutions to be certified for HDR Vivid colour grading.

Developed by the China Ultra HD Video Alliance (CUVA), HDR Vivid offers 40 times higher brightness than traditional standard dynamic range.

The certification recognises Transkoder’s support for PQ-encoded HEVC rendering with embedded HDR Vivid metadata, enabling frame-by-frame dynamic tone-mapping on compatible HDR Vivid displays.

Colorfront has introduced a new HDR Vivid node within Transkoder, giving users the ability to preview and verify HDR Vivid colour-mapping tailored to specific target displays before final delivery. This feature ensures that content appears as intended on HDR Vivid–capable devices, providing filmmakers and studios with the highest level of creative control, accuracy, and confidence during post production processes, said the company.

“We are incredibly proud that Transkoder has been recognised as one of the first mastering solutions to achieve this new milestone,” said Mark Jaszberenyi, CEO of Colorfront. “The addition of HDR Vivid reflects our on-going dedication to delivering innovative technology that empowers filmmakers, studios and streaming platforms right around the world.”
