Cinedeck is now shipping the Cinedeck RX, a new rack-mountable solid-state server designed for live applications such as tapeless studios and outside broadcast trucks. New York’s leading outside broadcast contractor All Mobile Video is the launch customer, and is moving to install the new servers across its fleet. “Because Cinedeck RX saves time and money on ingest into post we can now offer our clients more competitive all-in pricing,” said Eric Duke, president of All Mobile Video. “Regarding future workflow, we see Cinedeck RX as a major step in removing tape-based acquisition completely.” The unit is a half-width 4U high box, with video inputs in SD, HD, dual link, 3Gbb/s and 3D stereo. It provides simultaneous native support for Avid DNcHD (wrapped as MXF Op Atom or Quicktime) and all flavours of the Apple ProRes codec. Its input processing allows either two streams to be recorded simultaneously or one stream to be recorded in both Apple and Avid formats, making it ideal for mixed editing environments or projects when the post production facility is not yet defined. The front panel features a high resolution 7” touchscreen display. As well as accessing the control layer of the server it provides a number of image analysis tools, including edge enhancement for focus assist as well as waveform, vectorscope and histogram. Playlists can be created on the screen. As well as video I/O the Cinedeck RX features multiple gigabit ethernet ports for integration into automated production environments, and for fast transfer of content to an editing network. The server is available from Cinedeck resellers at a starting price of $14,995.
