Chyron graphics hit a blue note

Building on its existing Axis cloud-based graphics service, Chyron launched BlueNet at NAB2011. This aims to streamline ordering and graphics asset management, collaborative creation, and realtime playout.

Building on its existing Axis cloud-based graphics service, Chyron launched BlueNet at NAB2011. This aims to streamline ordering and graphics asset management, collaborative creation, and realtime playout. Already Norwegian broadcaster NRK has chosen it to provide commonality across its regional stations. The idea is that shared assets, cloud-based image services and templates can be accessed by anyone through BlueNet, allowing journalists on location at a story, or producers at their desks, to locate and order graphics, and complete standard templates. Integration with newsroom systems like Dalet, ENPS and iNews means that names need only be entered once for automatic creation of captions.A plug-in for Final Cut Pro allows the editor to place graphics as templates, using a pointer to the BlueNet cloud. If the data changes, the design is updated, or if there are multiple versions of the graphic for different regions, the correct one is rendered at the time of publication of the edit. A similar plug-in is available for the Adobe Creative Suite.
