Chello Multicanal has expanded its Spanish facility in a move that has seen the largest independent provider of themed channels in Spain and Portugal launch HD services whilst fully automating its internal processes. As part of this major expansion Chello Multicanal has upgraded its Tedial Tarsys MAM and Ficus Business Process Manager (BPM) systems to enable its two sites in Madrid (production) and Barcelona (transmission) to be linked providing full workflow integration.
Production for all of Chello Multicanal’s HD programming is carried out in its Madrid facility using Final Cut Pro, a new addition to its existing Avid suites housed in Barcelona. Once complete the edited material is sent to the Barcelona facility for QC, transmission and archive under the full control of the Tedial systems. This is the next phase of what began as a huge digitisation project for Chello Multicanal in 2007 when the Tedial systems were initially installed.Rafael Dubois, Tedial Sales and Marketing Director explains, “The Tedial MAM and BPM systems form the heart of Chello Multicanal’s facilities allowing material to be moved seamlessly from Madrid to Barcelona and vice versa. This major expansion provides an excellent reference for a transparent multi-site production workflow that enables Chello to offer its customers full HD services. Tedial is a pioneer in the broadcast industry providing an enterprise level integration platform based on IT architecture allowing broadcasters like Chello to take full advantage of file-based workflows by optimising and automating operational processes.” Owned by Chellomedia, Chello Multicanal is the leading independent producer of thematic television channels in Spain and Portugal. The company produces 21 television channels : Canal Hollywood Spain, XTRM, Somos, MGM, Cinematk, Odisea, Odisseia, Natura, Canal Cocina, Decasa, Sol Música, Canal 18, Buzz, and Canal Panda Spain . HISTORIA, BIO and Crime &Investigation are produced in the Iberian market through a Joint Venture with AETN.
