Canon’s latest HDR monitor delivers Dolby Vision and EBU standards

The DP-V1830 delivers Dolby Vision and EBU TECH3320 standards, with a Grade 1A rating achieved for contrast ratio, peak luminance, black level, luminance uniformity and delay time

Canon is bringing a new 18-inch, 1,000 nit, 4K HDR monitor to the market in early 2022.

The monitor, named DP-V1830, delivers Dolby Vision and EBU TECH3320 standards, with a Grade 1A rating achieved for contrast ratio, peak luminance, black level, luminance uniformity and delay time.

It also features advanced HDR monitoring including a waveform monitor, false colour and range check; as well as dual/quad display and 8K support. The DP-V1830 also includes 1 HDMI input and 12G-SDI terminals with 4 inputs/4outputs.

Weighing 7.5kg, Canon describes the monitor as “compact and lightweight”.

The company added that is has developed a unique LED backlighting system that produces a wide colour gamut and supports the ITU-R BT.2020 standard.

“Additionally, Canon’s proprietary optical configuration helps mitigate luminance and colour variations, providing an angle of view for the display that is wide enough to deliver accurate images when several people are viewing the monitor at the same time,’ said the company.
