BT Sport looks for innovation ideas

Infinity Lab competition is aimed at startups that can help BT innovate and improve the TV experience for viewers

BT has launched it second Infinity Lab competition, aimed at startups that can help it innovate and improve the TV experience for viewers.

The company says it is looking for new solutions that can be applied to sports broadcasting or transform the way it operates BT Sport.

This is the second iteration of the Infinity Lab competition. 2016’s winners Seenit are now a key part of BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show.

The competition is open to companies globally who want to work with BT Sport in the UK or on location at sporting events around the world.

Entries are encouraged to focus on disrupting traditional broadcast approaches, including (but not exclusively) “capturing the in venue experience, encouraging interaction between sports fans, the use data and analytics to analyse key sporting highlights, ways of making live sports more accessible for impaired viewers as well as new technologies such as 360 video and VR.”

The winner will have the support of BT Innovation teams and BT Sport to trial their successful technology or service with BT.

The judging panel is being chaired by Jamie Hindhaugh, COO for BT TV and Sport.
