Broadcast Centre launches Five

After winning the contract to playout UK broadcaster Five's new digital channels in June this year, Red Bee Media has successfully launched Five Life and Five US across all digital platforms from its Broadcast Centre in West London.

After winning the contract to playout UK broadcaster Five’s new digital channels in June this year, Red Bee Media has successfully launched Five Life and Five US across all digital platforms from its Broadcast Centre in West London.

Five Life launched on Sunday, October 15 and will air daily between 06.00 and 23.00 hrs. Five US launched October 16 and will air daily between 16.00 and 01.00 hrs.

“The Broadcast Centre was opened three years ago in October 2003 to meet broadcasters’ future needs. We have been able to launch Five’s new channels in record time and I’m delighted to welcome these channels to our multi-client facility. The Broadcast Centre has the capacity to playout several hundreds of channels using its tapeless architecture and Media Object Management workflow system,” said Pam Masters, CEO, Red Bee Media.

Red Bee Media now plays out 80 channels and interactive streams from its Broadcast Centre including the BBC, ESPN, Flextech and UKTV channels as well as Five’s digital channels. This playout contract with Five is in addition to other services Red Bee Media already provides the broadcaster including disaster recovery, signing and audio description services.
