Blackmagic Design has revealed a series of new ATEM products including the ATEM Production Switchers, the ATEM Television Studio production switcher combined with broadcast encoder, and the ATEM Camera Converter, all at NAB. The ATEM Production Switchers are a new range of better quality and more affordable broadcast switchers, and include HDMI, USB 3.0 and SDI connections as well as a new software control panel for Mac and Windows which enables customers to use the switchers from their laptops, reducing the cost and portability. The software provides a professional M/E workflow control panel with parameter adjustments in simple to use palettes; and users can manage the media pool in the switcher and change its settings. There are two models. Both include four upstream and two downstream keyers, stinger effects, graphic wipe, and independent fade to black; and customers can use the built in DVE for DVE transitions or key repositioning. They also have built in Multi View monitoring which allows 10 channels of video to be displayed on a single SDI of HDMI TV monitor. Its built in media players boast 2GB of memory for 32 stills and two live clips with both fill and key channels. The ATEM Television Studio (pictured) combines a professional live switcher with a broadcast quality H.264 encoder allowing customers to perform live multi-camera production and broadcast encoding for the internet all in one product. The company claims it is the first production switcher for the internet age. It has six video inputs as well as four SDI/HD-SDI inputs for connecting to professional broadcast cameras on longer cable lengths; and two built in media player frame-stores which can be routed into any switcher input, upstream keyer, downstream keyer, or background. The ATEM Camera Convertor allows cameras to be placed up to 25 miles away from live production switchers. It is a complete solution for converting cameras to optical fibre for live production and at a low cost. Professional or consumer cameras can be connected via the HDMI or SDI for conversion to optical; and outputs can be used for local camera or switcher program monitoring. It has dual balanced jack local mic inputs which override the camera audio when connected. Designed for portable operation, it also includes a long duration built-in battery and an integrated belt clip.
