Phoenix7 has won a contract with BBC Worldwide Channels to provide a channel management solution for its global portfolio, and secured another recent win at Travel Channel International.

The company will supply its zeus product (channel management, broadcast operational support and EPG solution) as the hub of BBC Worldwide’s broadcast operation for over 16 channels broadcast globally.

Hitesh Vekaria, of phoenix7 said: “We are thrilled to be working with such a unique and prestigious broadcaster with its wealth of experience in the broadcast industry. It is a challenging brief where the end result can only help to reinforce and enhance our product offering.

“At a time of channel proliferation and pressure on costs, all broadcast clients are looking for software providers who can demonstrate experience, knowledge and smart strategic thinking. This is why phoenix7 continues to grow in the current economic climate. Because our systems are so flexible, robust and easy to configure, we are a perfect choice for BBC Worldwide Channels’ unique specifications.”

The company has also had success at Travel Channel International, who has opted for phoenix7’s athena product (media asset management solution) in conjunction with its recent move to a tapeless environment. Athena, complements the zeus and europa (cross media sales) systems already deployed at Travel Channel International.

Phoenix7’s solution integrates with Telestream’s pipeline and Flip-Factory products – providing initial ingest of master content right through to distribution to language houses, VoD platforms and playout. As part of the integration with playout at Arqiva, the solution supports a multi-language enrichment process.

Richard Wolfe, explained: “Over the years, phoenix7 has impressed us with their understanding of our industry and our business as well as with the sophistication and flexibility of their systems. They have always been willing and able to configure their software to provide tailor-made solutions for us.

Hitesh Vekaria, of phoenix7 said: “This is a significant milestone for us, and it clearly illustrates our progress in offering a single, seamlessly integrated solution. We have a strong pipeline of future developments to achieve our vision, so watch this space.

“With the current uncertain economic climate, broadcasters are looking for ways to reduce cost and streamline their operation and one obvious way is to eliminate integration and overhead charges of using multiple vendors. We are privileged to be part of a few suppliers who can deliver a diverse and yet integrated solution.”
