Launching at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade show this week are Barco’s new structures for tiled LCD video walls. The Barco-designed OBLX series are freestanding structures, meaning they do not need wall support for stability. The OBLX-4610 (pictured) and OBLX-5510 freestanding structures hold 46-inch or 55-inch LCD displays, respectively, in a 2×2 landscape setup or a 3×1 portrait setup. The leg of the OBLX series structures is designed to house a 19-inch rack-mountable controller. Another option is to install a ClickShare Base Unit (for Barco’s meeting and collaboration system) or a DISplayer (Barco dzine’s digital signage media player) inside the structure. The leg can also house a LAN switch, a common on/off switch (controlling all the displays), and a multi-socket. These components are accessible from both the front and the rear. “We are very proud to show the OBLX series to the world,” said Peter Baumgaertner, product manager LCD displays at Barco. “As experts in tiled LCD video walls, we have first-hand knowledge of how to install our products. All of this know-how was applied to the design of our new structures, which tackle some very important challenges that confront traditional LCD video wall structures. The design trim to protect the sensitive narrow-bezel LCD edges, the removable cover plates to house the cabling inside, and the swift and flexible setup are just a few of the features that will make the lives of LCD video wall installers and operators easier.”www.barco.com
