AVIWEST is the wind behind SailTracks’ streams

Simplifies communications between master control rooms and remote transmitter operators aboard vessels

SailTracks has deployed AVIWEST PRO3 bonded cellular transmitters and StreamHub transceiver for live coverage of its high-profile sailing races, including the Medal Races at the 2020 Hempel World Cup Series in Enoshima, Japan.

The German video producer streams races directly onto Facebook and YouTube, making the compact and robust the PRO3 Series well-equipped for installation aboard SailTracks’ vessels, synchronously backhauling multiple live feeds with genlock and lip sync for multicamera and remote productions.

The PRO3 Series’ 12 3G/4G/5G-compliant network connections and Wi-Fi modems allow the company to conduct live interviews with premium HEVC encoding, its SIP-based intercom simplifying communications between SailTracks’ master control room and remote transmitter operators aboard ships.

“We were very impressed by the AVIWEST units’ performance reach,” said SailTracks MD Marcus Baur. “The PRO3 allows us to go live in the open sea and stream high-quality videos, bringing the action to fans. We’ve tested several providers, and only AVIWEST could handle tough weather conditions — the temperature, humidity, and waves — while offering us the requested quality.”
